Prostate cancer testing guidelines

There is plenty of confusion in the community (men and their partners) about prostate cancer testing.  Confusion can lead to men not being tested – and that can lead to more men ending up with advanced (incurable) prostate cancer.

A recent article has been written and published by our colleagues at The Prostate Zone.  Their article looks at some of the confusion, disagreement, misconceptions and myths around PSA and prostate cancer testing generally.

New support group launched

New group for Baw Baw & Warragul

The Baw Baw Prostate Cancer Support Group was formed in 2022 when Linton Blackwell moved to the area and discovered there was no support group within the Baw Baw region.

Linton, a prostate cancer survivor of more than ten years, had experience as a former leader of the Bairnsdale Prostate Cancer Support Group. He knew that prostate cancer impacts one in six men in their lifetime and realised many men in the area could benefit from the support of a group who understand what it means to be on the prostate cancer journey.

The Group offers emotional support and information to anyone with an interest in prostate cancer. Partners are encouraged to attend meetings.

Meetings are held at the Warragul Sporting & Social Club (Downtowner), 55 Victoria Street, Warragul.

Group meetings start at 2pm on the second Wednesday of every month.

Please call Linton on 0419 582 665 if you need assistance, or if you would like to attend a meeting but are just a bit unsure.
